123 Hi guys. Yesterday was amazing. The legionnaire is still not finished. Will have to go back up there on Monday and try it. However I started something. A little experiment. My illustration class teacher showed us some of the guys who revolutionized comics in the ninety's(Ashley Wood, Simon Bisley and some others) and I was so inspired, that I had to try some new techniques, combining things i know with some new ideas. Here is the workflow. This was so much fun!!! I'll keep doing this I think. This is supposed to be a cover for project from illustration-class. The transparent red color mixed with turpentine felt surprisingly marker-like. Used Pentel Color Brush and Pilot O.4 for the sketch and then went over it with oils. Used only turpentine and linseed oil as medium. The pre sketches for this, can be found in the previous blogpost here And well I'ts not completely finished yet, I'll have to retouch it a little bit in PS to make the edges nic...
Hey guys, You can find Images and study examples on the bottom of this post. :) I've been in Berlin for the THU meetup and this was really my first time seeing as many artists in one place... for real in real life. It was an eye-opening experience. It is all true what they say, but its way better to witness this awesomeness in person. Well, I made a Portfolio Book brought it and got incredible feedback from all over the place. It was the best thing I could have done I think. When I talked to Even Amundsen, he was really positive and he asked me what I wanted to do and I was kind of dumbfound. I just said "I want to do my own Projects." Which is true, (I really want to do my Neverland and Mushroom Samurai stories) yet "to do my own stuff" is incredibly broad and feels somewhat narcissistic now. Considering that I don't have professional working experience. (Check out my online portfolio michael-loos.com) And then the words which I almost always...
What a beautiful Sunday outside.... Hey Guys, I took it a bit easier today. Still I did my 270 minutes! :) I changed my practice a bit today. I started with a bracket of 90 minutes gesture, devided into 60 minutes of 1 minute gestures and used the last 30 minutes to do six 5 minute gestures. That was a very good decision I think. More time to construct anatomy and forms atop the Gesture. The more I try around I get to know how I work, which makes spotting those bad habits that much easier. In general my approach to work is to chaotic. The way I work involves exploring and finding to a degree, that makes it impossible to explain ideas clearly. This is not bad, yet it feels like I'm talking without getting to the initial point. Happy accident style. This approach is a goldmine for finding ideas, if you couple it with some scientific interest and nerdism. But for now more deliberate expression of thought! Gestures Terminology practice (The scapula is to...
